(August 1st, 2011 Cheshire, CT) – On Wednesday, July 27th, Abilities Without Boundaries opened its doors to the community for the first time since the organization completed the re-branding process. The newly named non-profit was host to the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce Business After-Hours networking event, co-sponsored by South End Spirits, that brought approximately 60 business professionals to the 615 West Johnson Avenue facility.
Abilities Without Boundaries, formerly known as Cheshire Occupational & Career Opportunities (COCO), wanted a chance to show members of the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce their recently revamped facilities. The organization is dedicated to providing social opportunities and supported employment to adults with developmental disabilities in and around the Cheshire area. With the allure of a hot dog cart, Italian ice vendor, and great raffle items, entrepreneurs and corporate representatives alike were drawn to the social event. “The Business After-Hours was fabulous and the attendance was outstanding,” remarked Sheldon Dill, President of the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce.
Guests donned nametags decorated by Abilities’ very own clients, grabbed food, and worked the room until Dill welcomed everyone to the After-Hours event. After a message from Charlie Conway, the Executive Director at Abilities Without Boundaries, and Ashley Yalof, Marketing Director, the attendees heard a heartfelt story from Matt Wemple, the parent of a client at Abilities Without Boundaries. His captivating story was received with open arms as he spoke about his daughter’s positive experience at Abilities.
“It was a great opportunity for people to see the great work done by the clients and staff of Abilities Without Boundaries. The chamber was proud to be a part of the event,” reflected Dill. An enjoyable evening was had by many which is why Abilities Without Boundaries extends the invitation to tour its facilities to all those interested in learning more about a local non-profit. For more information, please e-mail Ashley Yalof atayalof@abilitieswithoutboundaries.org or visit their website at www.abilitieswithoutboundaries.org.
